Swanky ‘Utkrisht’ rake reaches capital

Refurbished with many new facilities

Kerala has got the first rake under the Railways project ‘Utkrisht’ aimed at the upgrade of long distance Mail and Express trains depended on by common man into swanky trains.

The first rake with the most modern environmental friendly green ‘Utkrst’ coaches allotted to the State and Thiruvananthapuram railway division has arrived at Kochuveli terminal. The rake, with an upgraded interior and exterior, host of modern amenities and beige and maroon colour scheme, will be used to upgrade 22633/22634 Thiruvananthapuram Central-Hazrat Nizamuddin-Thiruvananthapuram Central Weekly Expresses.

Flag off

Divsional Railway Manager, Shirish Kumar Sinha told The Hindu that a senior railway personnel will flag off the first service of the train with the upgraded Utkrisht coaches on December 26.

LED panel lighting, braille signage, night glow stickers, LED panel photo frame in first AC coaches, new types of bottle holders, big size mirrors, anti-graffiti vinyl wrapping in the gangway area, new types of fire extinguishers, toilets with exhaust fans, health faucets, auto janitors and big size mirror are some of the key features of the Utkrisht coaches rolled out by the railways.

High quality PU painting done on the exterior of the coach with an additional clear coat for bright and reflective finish and High quality Reflective Stickers have been used for Coach Information indication instead of stencilling with paint are the other features.
