Social media has not spared Donald Trump even on Christmas. The US President is being trolled on the microblogging site Twitter, apparently for questioning the beliefs of an 8-year-old boy regarding Santa Claus.

Donald and Melania Trump were taking part in a White House Christmas tradition wherein the President and the First Lady join the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) call centre to take some calls by children who have queries about Santa Clause and his gift deliveries. Children from across the country call in to inquire about their Christmas presents and some of these calls are answered by the President.

However, this year, Trump's behaviour on one of the calls has been receiving flak on social media.

As can be seen in videos of the interaction that is now viral on Twitter, a flustered Trump asks a 7-year-old Coleman some tough questions. After wishing him Merry Christmas and asking him how he was and how old he was, Trump asked the child if he believed in Santa Claus.

"Are you still a believer in Santa? Because at 7, it’s marginal, right?” the POTUS asked, apparently amused by the thought. He concluded the phone call with "Well, you just enjoy yourself."

This Christmas finds the US President amidst a lot of internal criticism due to a government shutdown that has affected several federal departments and agencies.

However, the gloomy NORAD phone call to the 7-year-old has left many adults on social media a little disgruntled. Many thought that the President's message to the kid was not too Christmasy.
