Afghanistan: 43 killed, 10 wounded in Kabul attack

KABUL

At least 43 people have been killed and 10 others wounded during a complex attack on a government building in Kabul, officials said on Tuesday reports Pajhwok.

Afghan Health Ministry spokesman Waheed Majroh said, another 10 people were wounded in yesterday’s attack on a site where the Ministry of Public Works and other offices are located.

Gunmen stormed the compound after detonating a car bomb at the entrance. Hundreds more were trapped inside the buildings as heavily armed security forces swarmed the area, engaging in a fierce gun battle with the attackers. According to officials, at least four terrorists, including the suicide bomber, were killed and more than 350 people freed.

The attack is one of the deadliest assaults on the Afghan capital this year. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the assault. The attack comes in the wake of US decision to pull out roughly half of its troops in the country.
