Ahmedabad: Student puts woman professor’s number on dating sites, held

Picture for representational purposeAHMEDABAD: Cyber cell of the city crime branch late on Monday night arrested a 24-year-old student for putting his woman professor’s number on dating sites, including some websites which come under pornographic category.
Officials of the cyber cell said that the student had grievance with the professor, aged around 40, as she had scolded him some four months ago for his poor performance in studies after which he had decided to take revenge from her.
“The student had first made fake IDs on different dating sites, which are monitored from foreign countries, and then put name, number, email id and picture of the woman professor with description stating that any male can contact her to fulfill his carnal desires,” said a police official.
After the student uploaded details of the woman professor, she started getting calls from unknown persons seeking sexual favours from her. Besides, her email and message folder was flooded with obscene messages and images.
Extremely harassed, she had approached the cyber cell last week with her complaint. The cyber cell found that the details of the professor were uploaded on websites operated from foreign countries.
“We have approached all the website operators and asked them to give details of the person who had uploaded the professor’s details. The website operators gave the details of the uploader which turned out to be her student,” said official.
DCP, cyber cell, Rajdeepsinh Jhala said that the man has been booked under various IPC and IT act sections. “Any woman, who is harassed like this, can approach us and we will take swift and strong action. Most importantly, her details will be kept anonymous,” said Jhala.
