Man who 'attempted child abduction' in Forrestfield arrested by police

A man who allegedly tried to abduct a child from a Forrestfield home last week has been arrested by police following a seven-day manhunt.

The 37-year-old Forrestfield man is accused of knocking on the door of a 67-year-old woman's Anderson Street home around 10.15am on December 19 and pretending to deliver a letter.

Police allege when the door was opened, the man forced his way into the house brandishing a toy gun, scaring the occupants of the home which included two children aged seven and eight, and the woman.

Midland Detectives allege the man told the seven year old child to come with him and when the child refused, he left the premises.

He has been charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and going armed to cause fear and is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Boxing Day.
