8-year-old boy sodomised on hospital premises in Punjab

PATIALA: An 8-year-old boy was allegedly sodomised by a 23-year-old man on December 20 at around 7 pm in a room under the water tank on the premises of Nabha Civil Hospital. The district police, on registering a case, have arrested an accused and further investigation is underway.


Kotwali Nabha station house officer said, “The accused was identified on the basis of the survivor child's testimony and he has been arrested. He will be presented before the court tomorrow and further action will be taken after the court orders.”

Dr Lokesh from Nabha Civil Hospital said, “During our examination, we have found some abrasion injuries on the thigh of the child who is nearly 8-year-old and there were some findings in the anal region as well. So the possibility of sexual assault is high and presently the child is undergoing treatment in the hospital.”

A family member of the survivor child while talking to TOI said, “On December 20 we had sent the boy to bring sugar from the market which is just 5 minutes away from our house. The boy did not return home for more than two hours and we started looking for him in the area. We found the boy crying and coming out of the Nabha Civil Hospital premises. His eyes were red and clothes were dirty. We took the boy home and on enquiry he disclosed the incident. Since the boy was able to identify the accused, we went searching him, but could not find him. Next day we took the boy to the hospital where the doctors confirmed that he was sodomised cruelly.”
