GURUGRAM: The widow of city-based businessman Vinod Sharma, who committed suicide in July this year allegedly due to pressure from a senior Gurugram police officer, has sought a CBI probe in the case alleging that the state crime branch and the local police are trying to shield the accused.
Meenu Sharma, during a press conference on Monday, alleged that the police department had been fudging facts to save the accused— former DCP (Manesar) Mohinder Singh Sethi.
In July, Vinod Sharma had allegedly shot himself in the chest at his office on Golf Course Road. Police recovered a suicide note and booked Delhi-resident Devendra Lakra.
However, Meenu in her complaint named Sethi along with Lakra as accused in her husband’s suicide case. “Five months have passed but the investigation has not progressed. How will they fairly investigate when they salute the accused (Sethi)? They are making all efforts to save him and are harassing me. I have written to all offices, including CM and PM, but have not received a satisfactory reply. Now I want the CBI to take over the investigation,” Meenu said on Monday. She alleged that the Gurugram police tried to frame her in a false case when she went to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his rally in Sultanpur in November.
Meanwhile, DGP (crime) P K Aggarwal said that they are investigating the case impartially and would crack it soon.
“We are on the job and have got permission for narco and polygraph test of former DCP (Manesar) Mohinder Singh Sethi based of the allegation of the deceased’s wife. The other accused, in the case, resides in Delhi and our teams are conducting raids to nab him,” DGP Aggarwal said.
