Delhiites woke up to a chilly Monday morning, with the minimum temperature settling at 4.6 degrees Celsius. The fall in temperature is due to cold wave conditions prevailing over northwest India, the Meteorological Department said.
The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 4.6 degrees, three notches below the season’s average, it said. The humidity level at 8.30 AM on Monday was recorded at 100 per cent.
The weather office has forecast clear skies for the day ahead. “The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 22 degrees Celsius,” it said.
On Sunday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 22 and 3.7 degrees Celsius respectively.

The Australian cricket team held a practice session on Christmas eve, ahead of the third test match against India in the ongoing test series.
Skipper Tim Paine said on Monday that he was relishing his sometimes heated battle with animated Indian counterpart Virat Kohli, and promised “intense, hard” cricket in the crunch Boxing Day Test at Melbourne.
Death toll in the Indonesian tsunami rises to 280

The death toll from a tsunami that hit the Indonesian islands of Java and Sumatra after the Anak Krakatau volcano erupted rose to at least 280 on Monday, officials said, as rescuers using heavy machinery and their bare hands searched for more victims.
Hundreds more were injured when the tsunami struck, almost without warning, along the rim of the Sunda Strait late on Saturday. More than 3,000 coastal residents were forced to evacuate to higher ground, with a high-tide warning in place until Tuesday.
