Property dealer held in ex-mayor murder case

MUZAFFARPUR: Police arrested a property dealer from Mithanpura locality of the town on Sunday night in connection with the murder of former Muzaffarpur Municipal Corporation (MMC) mayor Samir Kumar. The police claimed that Samir was killed over a property dispute.
Samir and his driver Rohit Kumar were gunned down near a fire station in Chandwara locality under the Town police station here on September 23.
Confirming the arrest, Muzaffarpur SSP Manoj Kumar said the former mayor had a dispute with property dealers.
“We have arrested a realtor, Kumar Rananjay Omkar of Manjhaul under Cheria Bariarpur police station in Begusarai district, in connection with the murder. Omkar has confessed to the police that he and four others – Sujit Kumar, Govind Kumar, Shyamnandan Mishra and Sushil Kumar Chhapadai – had hatched the conspiracy to kill Samir,” the SSP said.
He added while Mishra and Chhapadia were arrested earlier, Govind was nabbed nearly a week ago from Patna airport.
