Freshly Delivered Tesla Model 3 Still Comes With Certain Quality Issues

There has been a lot of talk surrounding the various quality issues that plagued the Tesla Model 3, especially in earlier models, but now we get the chance to find out what the popular EV is like straight from the delivery truck, courtesy of Engineering Explained.

Popular YouTuber Jason Fenske took delivery of his personal Model 3 and instead of driving it right away, he parked and went through the condition of his brand new electric car, spotting some quality issues along the way.

With the car having just 22 miles on the odometer, Fenske spotted more than a few scratches and imperfections on the Model 3’s red paintjob, which is a $2500 option. Orange peel is also very present.

He then measured the body’s panel gaps and compared then to those of a Subaru Crosstrek. What he found was that the inconsistencies between the driver’s side and the passenger’s side were significantly bigger than those in the Subaru. One of the biggest panel gaps in the Tesla was found between the rear quarter panel and the rear door on the driver’s side, at 6.8mm.

At least most of the trim pieces look way more aligned than what we’ve seen in the past but the manufacturing tolerances of the Subaru are way more tighter than Tesla’s, given some of the results in the video that follows.
