Christians are all set to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ world over, including in the Peoples Republic of China.

Chinese tourists are seen worldwide and are in control of several international tourism communities and their economies. Majority of tourism economies in Christian dominated destinations world over prefer Chinese visitors. One of the attractions for Chinese tourists abroad is the festivity of this Holiday week. However back home, China’s leadership said no to Christmas.

As Christmas approaches, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) keeps on intensifying their authority over religious activities. Churches which are state-approved Three-Self Patriotic Movement have been requested to apply for permits from different levels of government institutions, along with the Religious Affairs Bureau, if they want to celebrate Christmas in their places of worship.

The apparent crackdown of China on Christianity is evident, as the ruling Community party continues to strengthen its power over religious freedom in the country.

Churches were attacked as well as destroyed, Bibles and holy books were taken away and new laws were set in to keep an eye on religious activities of Henan, which has one of the largest Christian populations in China.
