Two killed, four hurt as tractor-trolley turns turtle

BADAUN: In a fog-related accident, two labourers were killed and four were injured on Sunday morning after the tractor-trolley in which they were travelling turned turtle. Police said due to low visibility in dense fog, the tractor driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell into a ditch near Shanpur village under Dataganj police station in Badaun district.
According to police, two labourers died on the spot while four were injured on Sunday morning. They were admitted to the district hospital. The tractor’s driver, Jhankar, managed to flee the scene. An FIR has been registered against him.
Station house officer (SHO) of Dataganj police station Rajesh Kumar said, “The tractor-trolley was on its way to an agriculture field in Dataganj locality from a Jatipur village around 5.30am when the accident took place. The deceased have been identified as Navshed Ali (45) and Anoop Kumar (27). All were residents of Badiya village under Jatipur police station in Shahjahanpur district.”
Kumar added, “After receiving information, I informed the emergency ambulance service. Soon, a police team along with a JCB machine reached the spot. The injured were admitted to the district hospital.”
An FIR has been registered against the driver under IPC sections 304 A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) on a complaint of family members of the deceased, the SHO said.
