Man nearly drowns at Sunshine Coast beach

Paramedics were working to save a man who was pulled from the ocean at the Sunshine Coast on Christmas Eve.

Lifeguards rescued the 40-year-old man who nearly drowned just after 4.30 on Monday afternoon at Kings Beach.

Surf Life Saving Queensland said the man did not speak English and was swimming outside the flags.

He was treated on-scene by lifeguards and transported to hospital in a stable condition.

Lifesavers have continued to warn people to swim between the flags and watch their children after a spate of drowning incidents across the state in the lead up to Christmas.
