It's been a rough December for Cassandra Thorburn.
But Karl Stefanovic's ex-wife appeared determined to put on an unforgettable Christmas for their three children - Jackson, 19, Ava, 13 and River 12.
Taking to Instagram, the 47-year-old former journalist showed off her decorated Christmas tree surrounded by an enormous selection of wrapped presents.

Captioning the twinkly image with a simple, 'Merry Christmas', a trio of stockings could clearly be seen bearing the names of her kids.
The festive display comes after Cassandra revealed she won't spend 'Christmas Eve or Christmas morning' with her younger brood.
'I get Christmas [Day] afternoon,' she said during an appearance on Studio Ten just three days after Karl, 44, tied the knot with new wife Jasmine Yarbrough in Mexico.

Cassandra explained that her eldest son Jackson would be with her over the holidays, but River and Ava 'don't have that option' and will be with their father and new wife Jasmine.
She added, rather pointedly: 'You have to follow what's set in place. The younger children have to follow the rules.'
'And as a parent, it's their Christmas, you have to encourage them.'

'[You say to them] "You know what, you're going to have a great Christmas, and when you come back home, we're going to have a great afternoon".'
Meanwhile, days after his unceremonious sacking from the Today show, Karl has reportedly hired lawyers to obtain an audio recording of Cassandra that was sold to the media earlier this month.
According to last weekend's Sunday Telegraph, top lawyers at Sydney's Swaab Attorneys 'will this week send a court order demanding the raw audio of an interview conducted at Sydney Airport the same day Karl married show designer, Jasmine, 34'.

The audio, recorded by paparazzo and freelance journalist Jonathan Marshall, features Cassandra speaking negatively about Karl.
It was later sold to New Idea magazine for an estimated $15,000.
Cassandra has repeatedly denied that she ever gave the interview, telling Daily Mail Australia at the time that 'there was no interview or rant'.
