Defending his proposal that Congress president Rahul Gandhi be made Prime Ministerial candidate of the non-BJP front in 2019, DMK president MK Stalin on Sunday said the regional party leaders in various states consider that the issue should be decided after ironing out the differences and political problems among them.

“No one said Stalin was wrong in proposing Rahul at Karunanidhi’s statue unveiling. None said no to Rahul Gandhi. That is the truth. They only did not want it to be announced now,” Stalin reiterated, before adding that the people were committed to remove even a trace of BJP not only in Tamil Nadu, but across the country.
Justifying his ‘sadist’ critique of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Stalin reiterated that he did not call Narendra Modi the individual or Narendra Modi the BJP leader a sadist, but only the Prime Minister who did not visit the cyclone-hit people of Tamil Nadu. Stalin who is also the leader of opposition asserted that he would continue to call the PM a sadist.
Sparing a thought for the victims of the Thoothukudi police shooting, Stalin elaborated on the autopsy report of the 13 persons shot dead by police during anti-Sterlite protests and said the state government had claimed that the police shot them in defense. But the autopsy report has clearly revealed that the police firing was targeted.
Speaking at a wedding ceremony of party MLA Masthan in Gingee, Stalin said, “Indeed, I proposed Rahul for PM. What is wrong with that? Some wonder why I had done it? If we don’t propose who else should? (Leaders) refused to accept it. Did someone say that Stalin was wrong in proposing Rahul for PM? A few leaders in some states consider that it (PM candidate issue) could be decided after resolving the political problems and animosities between them there.”
