“Indian farmers have the opportunity to plant and conserve medicinal plants,” said Dr. S S Barve, the vice president of Scientific Research Centre in Mulund (Mumbai) at an event in the city. He was visiting Kolhapur for the inauguration of a workshop for farmers being conducted at Shivaji University. The workshop highlights the importance of medicinal plants for the participating farmers. He further stated that in the national and international market, there is a high demand for the natural fragrances as well as medicinal plants. India as a country is rich in these resources. However, despite this, we are contributing merely one percent of the total raw material.
