Nana Chudasama, eminent jurist and former mayor and sheriff of Mumbai, paased away on Sunday. He was 85 years old.
"With profound grief, we inform you that our beloved father Nana Chudasama breathed his last today," his daughter and BJP spokesperson Shaina NC said in a statement.
He will be cremated in Mumbai this evening, she said.
Chudasama was the only Person ever to hold the position of both sheriff and mayor of Mumbai. He was known for his associations with his NGO - I Love Mumbai, National Kidney Foundation, Forum Against Drugs and AIDS - as well as his outspoken banners above a popular pizza joint at Marine Drive.
His NGO Founder Giants International grew to upto 600 Chapters worldwide and has branches across the United States and the United Kingdom.
I Love Mumbai, an NGO he founded when he was Sheriff of Mumbai, focuses on the greening, beautification and cleaning of Mumbai.
He was bestowed with several awards in his lifetime.
On his 83rd birthday in 2016, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched a website celebrating the life of Chudasama.
