Aam Aadmi Party convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday accused the BJP, the Congress and the Indian National Lok Dal of ignoring the all-important education and heath sectors during their regimes in Haryana.
Addressing a “School and Hospital Rally” in Sirsa, Mr. Kejriwal also hit out at the ruling BJP government, accusing it of destroying the feeling of ‘brotherhood’ in the State by resorting to caste-based politics.
“The ruling BJP in Haryana has focused on creating a divide between Jats and non-Jats and promoting politics based on casteism,” alleged Mr. Kejriwal.
He appealed to the people to shun the established political players in Haryana and vote for the AAP, which would provide them with basic amenities to improve quality of life.
“I appeal to the youth to support us and save the country. If these parties continue to rule for some more years, the country will not survive,” he said.
“In Haryana, during the last four years, the condition of schools and hospitals has deteriorated instead of improving. I challenge all these parties [BJP, INLD and Congress] that have ruled the State to hold school-hospital rallies if they are honest,” he said.
Audit of schools
Mr. Kejriwal said that private schools in Haryana have been charging exorbitant fees. “AAP, after assuming power, would conduct an audit of the private schools and make them return the amount they overcharged over the past four years of BJP rule,” he said.
Mr. Kejriwal referred to his work in Delhi as a case in point.
“When we took over in Delhi, there was a similar situation. We conducted an audit of private schools and made them return the amount they overcharged to parents,” said Mr. Kejriwal.
He said that AAP would ensure that the condition of the schools and hospitals in Haryana, which he claimed are in “a pitiable condition”, is improved if the party forms the next government.
“After 70 years of Independence, there is only one party which openly talks about schools and hospitals. Today, no party in the country has the courage to talk about hospitals and schools...,” he said.
Mr. Kejriwal also hit out at the Khattar government for not allowing him to visit a government dispensary in Karnal last month.
