FALL RIVER – Three victims of a would-be armed robbery chased their assailant on Friday night and had him pinned down when police arrived on the scene.

The armed man, later identified as suspect Quincy Sears, 25, of 51G Rolling Green Drive, was wearing dark clothing with a ski mask and gloves, when he allegedly attempted to rob three men outside Royal Pizza, 4263 N. Main St., around 10:30 p.m.

According to a press release from Fall River spokesman Sgt. J.T. Hoar, the suspect pointed a handgun at the men and demanded they give him their money.

One of the men tried to use his phone to call 9-1-1 and the suspect allegedly threatened to shoot all three of the men. After getting cash from one of the victims, police said Sears ran north toward the rotary.

When police were dispatched to the rotary at North Main Street and Airport Road, officer Tyler Paquette found the suspect being held down on the ground by the three other men.

Police said the victims had chased the suspect in their vehicle, and when they caught up with him were able to subdue him while waiting for police assistance.

Police said Sears was wearing the mask and gloves and had a “poor explanation” of what he was doing prior to being captured. Police found a Replica Handgun BB-Gun in the vicinity of where Sears was captured.

Sears was injured during the scuffle, according to police, and was transported to the hospital for care.

Sears was charged with armed robbery while masked, three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, and intimidation of a witness.
