Mapusa roads to get Rs 2.69-crore boost 

MAPUSA: Works of hot-mix carpeting of roads and construction of footpath totally worth Rs 2.69 crore was inaugurated at the hands of Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo in the presence of others at Acoi and Moira.

Ticlo, who is also the chairman of Goa Industrial Development Corporation in presence of BJP Aldona block president Franky Carvalho, vice chairperson Marlene Desouza and others, inaugurated the commencement of work of hot-mix carpeting and construction of footpath in ward 8 of Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) worth Rs 2.26 crore. Similarly another inauguration was done at Pirazona in Moira worth Rs 43.60 lakh in presence of Moira sarpanch Riya Belekar, panch members Oswald Cordeiro, Sadanand Raul, Lavu Thakur Mahesh Satlekar and others.

While interacting with media persons, Ticlo said, “The road in ward 8 of MMC is very busy as people use this road as a shortcut from Tivim to reach the highway hence road widening was required. Due to heavy traffic movement, local residents were facing problem while walking so we will be taking up construction of footpath which will enable local residents to walk safely.”

Ticlo further informed, “Even in Pirazona which is ward no 7 work was inaugurated and we will be also undertaking around 19-20 more works worth Rs 7 crore and are in pipeline and monitored by me and my

office.”
