A businessman sitting inside his SUV was allegedly robbed by two armed robbers on Ring Road in west Delhi on Thursday evening.

The police said they received a call regarding a robbery incident in Punjabi Bagh at 10.15 p.m.

The victim, Rahul Kumar, who owns a shop in Karol Bagh, said the incident happened when he was heading home in Paschim Vihar after closing his shop.

As he was taking a turn towards Rajouri Garden from Ring Road, Mr. Kumar said he received a call on his mobile phone. He halted his SUV at a bus stop to receive the call. When he was busy on the phone, a man approached him and pointed a pistol at him and threatened to shoot if he tried to raise an alarm.

Another man then got inside the SUV through the passenger side and held a knife to Mr. Kumar’s stomach.

“The robbers took ₹3,000 from my wallet, a gold chain and a gold kada. After robbing me, they rushed towards a car parked just behind my SUV and fled towards Moti Nagar,” the victim stated in his police complaint.

The police said that they have got significant leads regarding the suspects, and are scanning CCTV footage of the route taken by the robbers after the robbery.

“We have registered a case under IPC Section 392 [robbery] at Punjabi Bagh police station. The case is under investigation,” said DCP (West) Monika Bhardwaj.
