The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) will soon instal crash barriers on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway for safety of commuters during inclement weather, officials said on Saturday.
GNIDA has ordered its senior officers to detect and seal all unauthorised cuts on major roads, which pose a major hazard during fog. GNIDA officers have been empowered to lodge FIRs under Sections 3 and 4 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act against habitual offenders who create unauthorised shortcuts. The drive will be carried out over the next 48 hours.
From November 1, 2017, to October 31, 2018, Noida and Greater Noida recorded 1,076 accidents. Officials said 462 persons died and 807 were injured in these mishaps. GNIDA has already floated a tender to hire a contractor for implementation of the project.
