To a customer’s surprise, an ATM in Ayanavaram dispensed ₹59,800 worth on its own.

The police said that B. Senthil went to withdraw cash from the SBI ATM located on K.H. Road, Ayanavaram around 2.30 p.m. The ATM began dispensing the notes even as he was keying in his details.

He collected the cash and handed it over to the Ayanavaram police.

A little later, E. Sugumar, another customer, came to the bank to verify if the money he put in the ATM had been credited to the account. He told the officials that he had placed the money in the machine and left the place without verifying whether it was deposited and credited into the account. After verification, the police handed over the money to Mr. Sugumar.

City Police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan appreciated Mr. Senthil for his honesty.
