Police raid all women booze party in Surat, 21 held

SURAT: Police raided an all women booze party at Oyster Hotel in Piplod on Friday night and arrested 21 women while consuming liquor. Police seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) bottles from the venue. A raid on all women booze party in dry Gujarat created waves in the state that has strengthened its prohibition laws just a year ago.
Senior police officials were alerted by some caller about the party after which police raided the hotel on Gaurav Path. The information spread like wild fire in the city and a number of family members rushed to Umra police station in swanky cars.
The women were taken to New Civil Hospital (NCH) for medical examination and later allowed to go home. They were told to remain present in police station on next day morning. Police will take the women to court for further actions.
The arrested women are from business families of the city. Police are investigating that who organised the party and how the liquor was arranged. Sources close to the investigation revealed that some woman who was not invited to the party informed police to take revenge.
The police action just 10 days before the New Year have created panic among those planning a party on year end. A number of people who wants to celebrate new year party are planning an event in Mumbai, Daman or Silvassa.
