Need to link farm technologies stressed

more-in

There is a need to integrate farm technologies to improve the livelihoods of small and marginal farmers in the country, said former Director General of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) R.S. Paroda.

Speaking at a seminar on ‘Sustainability of Small Farmer in the Changing Agricultural Scenario’ organised here on Saturday, he asked agricultural scientists to improve and develop high-yielding hybrid technologies for enhancing productivity in major crops grown in the country.

Appreciating the Rythu Bandhu scheme being implemented by Telangana Government, Mr. Paroda said in addition to subsidies given on seed and fertiliser, it would provide some relief to the farmer at the beginning of an agricultural season. He suggested there is a need to integrate market-oriented agriculture development to ensure farmers get profit from agricultural produce.

The seminar was organised by Prof. Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University.
