GURUGRAM: The decomposed body of an 85-year-old woman was found in her house in Sector 57, around 15 days after her death, police said. The body was discovered by police after neighbours approached them on Thursday.
Although the autopsy report cited heart attack as the cause of death, police are still investigating the case. No FIR has been registered so far, police said.
The woman, Taravati Sharma, lived alone in a three-storey house. She had long separated from her husband and her two sons — Rajesh and Vijay — who are settled in the US.
Cops said it she would have died on December 5, as the neighbours did not spot her outside the house after that. The body was handed over to relatives, and her sons have been informed.
On Thursday morning, Taravati’s milkmaid, Monika, suspected something was wrong at home. Even though she rang the bell several times, Taravati didn’t open the door. She hadn’t seen Taravati after December 4. Monika then informed a neighbour, Kewal Nayyar, who called police.
When police reached Taravati’s house, they broke open the door and found her decomposed body on a bed in one of the rooms on the first floor of the house. “Taravati was an asthma patient. She died due to a heart attack. We have lodged a report in the matter,” said investigating officer ASI Rajesh Kumar.
