BHOPAL: The list of ministers of the new Congress state government is ready, sources in the PCC office said on Saturday. After holding discussions with all central leaders from the state over the past two days, chief minister Kamal Nath on Saturday morning met AICC president Rahul Gandhi with the list of council of ministers. Sources in the state Congress said that swearing-in ceremony will be held on Christmas Day at 3 pm.

Raj Bhavan officials, however, said that till Saturday evening they still had no information from the government about the oath-taking ceremony of the council of ministers. Governor Anandiben Patel is scheduled to leave for her year end tour to Gujarat and Chhattisgarh on December 25 late evening.

State Congress leaders said that more than 22 names have been cleared for ministerial berths. There are also strong speculations that former minister of the Digvijaya Singh government Vijaylaxmi Sadho can become the next Speaker of the state assembly. She is a lady doctor with an MBBS degree from Gandhi Medical College and belongs to the scheduled caste community. Sadho represents the Maheshwar assembly seat and has also been Rajya Sabha MP from June 2010 to June 2016.

Congress leaders claimed that state could get two ministers from Bhopal and Indore. The names being discussed are Arif Aqueel and PC Sharma from Bhopal, Jeetu Patwari and Tulsi Silawat from Indore. Tarun Bhanot and Lakhan Ghangoria from Jabalpur and Pradyumn Singh Tomar are frontrunners from Jabalpur and Gwalior.

“More than factional considerations, this time the party seems to have gone by seniority of MLAs in the House,” a senior office-bearer close to the chief minister said. The MLAs who might get ministerial berths are Govind Singh, KP Singh, Bala Bachchan, Sajjan Singh Verma, Bisahulal Singh, NP Prajapati, Vikram Singh Natiraja, Imarti Devi, Jaivardhan Singh, Jeetu Patwari, Kamleshwar Patel and independent MLA Pradeep Jaiswal.
