AMU Vice Chancellor releases poetic collection

AMU VC Prof Tariq Mansoor releasing the poetic collection of Ms Parveen Shere

ALIGARH

Prof Tariq Mansoor, Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University released Ms Parveen Shere’s fourth collection of poetry “Bekaraniyan” at a felicitation ceremony organized by the Research Association, Department of Urdu. Ms Shere, who came from Canada is a noted poetess, music composer and artist.

In his presidential address, Prof Mansoor congratulated Ms Shere on her poetic collection, which highlights different contours of Urdu poetry.

He said that AMU’s Department of Urdu is the largest Department of Urdu in the world and it has produced a number of men and women of letters who vastly contributed to the progress of the language of Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, Prof Tariq Chhatari, Chairman of the department, delineated the literary concerns of Ms Shere’s poetry and highlighted the achievements of faculty members.

Prof Azarmi Dukht Safavi, Prof Saghir Afraheem, Prof Maula Bakhsh, Dr Anwar Rashid Anwar and Dr Moied Rashidi presented papers on different aspects of Ms Shere’s poetry.

Prof Qamrul Huda Faridi proposed the vote of thanks.
