The city crime branch, on Friday, arrested two accused who were wanted in several cases of theft in Gujarat. As per crime branch officials, the two have been involved in seven cases of break-ins, 14 cases of vehicle theft and one case where an ATM machine was stolen.
The accused have been identified as Jagatsingh Bhavri and Kartar Singh Chikhlikar. During the interrogation of the accused, it was revealed that the accused were involved in an ATM machine theft which happened in Lambha village.
As per officials, there were three more accused apart from the two arrested, involved in the ATM theft. The accused had first stolen a vehicle from a nearby village. They destroyed the CCTV camera at the ATM and stole the machine. Later, the accused reached a deserted godown, where the machine was broken into and Rs 2.77 lakh cash was taken out of the machine.
Further interrogation revealed the accused were also involved in seven break-in cases which happened in Maninagar, Isanpur, Vatva GIDC and Aslali areas of the city. They were also involved in 14 vehicle thefts which happened in Gujarat.
The three other accused involved in the ATM theft case are on the run and the search for them is on.
