Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, Digvijaya Singh has been given government bungalow after installation of Congress government in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Kamal Nath has allotted him his old bungalow located in Shyamala Hills.
Earlier, after the order of the court during the reign of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Digvijaya had to vacate it. On Tuesday evening, the State Department issued an order in this regard. According to the state government, Digvijaya Singh is a Rajya Sabha MP and he is entitled to this bungalow.
Besides the bungalows to former chief ministers Kailash Joshi, Uma Bharti and Babulal Gaur have been returned to them in their capacity as MLA.
B-1, Shyamla Hills or commonly called 1, Shyamla Hills has been Singh’s address over the years. The state government issued the orders reinstating the bungalow to Singh. BJP government had withdrawn the residence from Singh citing rules. But former CMs Kailash Joshi, Uma Bharti and Babulal Gaur remained with their official residences.
High court had ordered state government to get the bungalows vacated from former chief ministers. Following the instruction, the allotment to all former CMs was cancelled.
However, new orders were issued by the government reinstating the bungalows to Joshi, Gaur and Bharti and Singh was left out and was asked to apply. Congress at that time had flayed the government for bias. War over getting official residences has remained a reason for tussle between the political parties and the government.
With Congress in power now, Congress leaders would be getting the residences and BJP leaders without an official post would be clearing them.
Shivraj to move into lucky bungalow
For Shivraj Singh Chouhan B7, Civil Lines Bungalow in Professors Colony is considered to be lucky located on Link Road. Even when Shivraj Singh became Chief Minister, he had not given up his occupation from this bungalow and now the same bungalow has been allotted to him. CM Kamal Nath has allotted the bungalow to Shivraj. This is the same bungalow which was earlier allocated for Sushma Swaraj.
Bungalow to be allotted to Scindia, Tankha
CM Kamal Nath has not yet allotted bungalows to former Union minister and MO Jyotiraditya Scindia and MP Vivek Tankha. Scindia and Tankha both had demanded bungalows in Bhopal.
BJP had ridiculed Scindia for applying for allotment of bungalow in Bhopal and Shivraj had not allotted the bungalow to him. It is believed that the government would allot bungalow to him soon.
