Speeding truck mows down disabled farmer

LUCKNOW: A case of road accident was reported each from Bakshi Ka Talab and Banthra on Thursday.
In Bakshi Ka Talaab, a speeding DCM truck hit a 50-year-old differently-abled farmer on NH24 on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Munna Lal and he died on the spot.
Police said that the accident occurred at around 9:30pm when Lal was going back to his home in Itaunja.
When he reached NH24, an unidentified truck suddenly ran over him. The errant driver fled from the spot along with the vehicle. “Lal fell on the ground and suffered multiple injuries. He died on the spot,” said police spokesperson Ashish Diwedi. “Police are looking for the driver and the truck,” he added.
In Banthra, an unidentified vehicle mowed down a 40-year-old labourer. The deceased was identified as Siyaram. The accident occurred around 4am when Siyaram had gone to relieve himself. Suddenly, an unidentified vehicle came and hit Siyaram. The driver fled from the site.
Siyaram fell on the ground after which locals gathered at the site and informed police. “He died while he was being taken to King George’s Medical University’s Trauma Centre. We are looking for the driver,” said police.
FIRs have been registered against the unidentified drivers in both the cases under charges of rash driving and causing death by negligence.
The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination.
