Strict monitoring of fake bills needed : CGST Commissioner Baranwal

LUDHIANA: To encourage industry to be proactive in managing their GST compliance, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized an exclusive interactive session on GST in Ludhiana. Ashutosh Baranwal, Commissioner Central GST (CGST) commissionerate, Ludhiana was the guest speaker on the occasion.
While addressing the participants commissioner Baranwal said, "The Goods and Service Tax is the most transformative and far reaching reform in India’s Taxation System. The GST Council has also cleared crucial Rules, related to the GST Law, through necessary amendments which has benefitted the industry. Moreover, State Govt must resolve to widen the tax base and keep a strict vigil and monitor on fake billings." Other officials of the CGST department present in the program included Joint commissioner Rajan Lachala, deputy commissioners Mandeep Batish, Daljit Kaur and Neeraj Soi.
Pawan Garg, Deputy excise and taxation commissioner, Ludhiana too was present in the program and said, "For smooth functioning and betterment, it’s imperative to impart knowledge and educate the industry, including the SME / MSME sectors, to understand the amendments done from the past more than year of the implementation the GST regime."
Gaurav Sehgal, Chairman, CII Ludhiana Zonal Council, said, "Punjab is trying to revive the industry by coming out with new sector specific Investor-friendly policies of GST. I personally feel, industry has been benefited with GST Laws. CII has had the privilege of being a partner to Government of Punjab on various key initiatives aimed at accelerating growth & industrial activity in the state. CII has been working closely with the state Government in flagging the Industry concerns & issues related to GST to the GST council. Today’s session is a part of our endeavour for industry preparedness for the success of GST regime.
Baldev Singh, Vice Chairman, CII Ludhiana Zonal Council, said, "GST is a major tax reform which has completely changed the architecture of indirect taxation, significantly restructured the power to tax between Union and State Governments, and established an integrated common market for the whole country. CII on its part has been closely working with stakeholders, including Governments & Political parties across the board for effective implementation of GST."
During the program excise and taxation officers Baldeep Singh & Dr Harsimrat Kaur Grewal were also present and they along with master Trainer, provided valuable insights into GST Law amendments and resolved the queries across industry sectors.
