Chitaguppi hospital to get ionized water unit

HUBBALLI: Soon patients and their attenders at Chitaguppi Hospital will get pure and ionized water to drink. HDMC is installing a new machine in its hospital to provide pure drinking water for patients.
Under the urban health mission grant, the district health department has sanctioned an ionizer machine for HDMC. Technicians have already initiated installation work and the machine is expected to be completely operational in a couple of days.

According to doctors, drinking alkaline water helps improve immunity and also counter acidity caused by poor diet, stress and environmental toxins. HDMC health officer Dr Prabhu Biradar said the ionizer provides water in four different pH levels. pH is a scale of the acidity or alkaline quality of a substance.

“The ionizer can provide water at four pH levels – one is neutral, one is alkaline and two in different acidic pH levels. Each of them have different purposes,” he said.

Alkaline water has many potent antioxidants that help prevent the g rowth of cells that damage free radicals in the body, which can accelerate the ageing process. One of the most important benefits of alkaline water is that it neutralizes acidity in the stomach and gastrointestinal tract.

“Considering the features and advantages of the ionizer, the machine is being installed at Chitaguppi Hospital. After analyzing its benefits and advantages, we plan to install it in other HDMC hospitals in the coming days,” he added.
