Drunk man throws stone at Tamil Nadu minister Velumani’s house

COIMBATORE: A 27-year-old man was caught red-handed by police when he threw a stone at the house of Tamil Nadu minister for municipal administration S P Velumani at Sugunapuram here in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The incident happened around 3am. The man, identified as A Sivadasan of Alathur village in Palakkad district of Kerala, was in an inebriated condition and was roaming near the minister’s house. He threw a stone at a window of the minister’s house. The windowpane was damaged.
Cops deployed at the minister’s home caught him and handed him over to the Kuniyamuthur police.
Since there was no complaint from the police personnel deployed at the minister’s residence, no case has been registered against the Sivadasan in connection with this incident. However, the police registered a case against him and arrested him for damaging the glasses of a Canara Bank ATM centre at Sugunapuram by throwing stones at them.
The police booked him under Section 3 of the Tamil Nadu Public Property (Prevention of Damage and Loss) Act.
The police said Sivadasan had been working as a machine operator in a stone crusher unit at Sugunapuram for the last five years.
