Says BJP leader on the eve of two-day Assembly session

On the eve of the two-day session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly here, the BJP said it would call on the Speaker to ‘request him to allow’ it to raise several ‘burning issues’ affecting the Capital which are being ‘suppressed’ by the Delhi government.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi government, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said, was ‘trying its best’ to sweep such issues under the carpet ‘out of political exigencies’.

“The Opposition will demand a CBI probe into large-scale bungling in conduct of surgeries and lab tests in Delhi government hospitals. It will also expose the AAP government’s conspiracy of depriving Delhiites of parking facilities, particularly at congested Idgah,” Mr. Gupta said.

e-PoS issue

Mr. Gupta said, the Opposition will also raise the issue of the Delhi government’s efforts to collect EPIC information as contained in voter cards in respect of government school students and members of their families.

The issue of a “revolt” by the Food Department’s officials against the Delhi government’s efforts to “wind up” e-PoS would also be raised, Mr. Gupta said.

“We will also ask the government why was it spreading lies with regard to the public interest constitution of the Police Complaints Authority [PCA]...and seek a probe by the House into serious irregularities in the Delhi government’s scheme of providing free pathology lab facilities, high-value diagnostic tests and surgeries,” Mr. Gupta said.

A three-member committee, Mr. Gupta said, in its report to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) had highlighted ‘serious irregularities’ in the system at the Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital.

The report, he argued further, revealed that the hospital was referring patients to private labs for tests which are available in the hospital. He alleged it went to the extent of allowing such labs to enter the hospital and draw samples from patients.

“It has found that cases were reported where patients were being charged for surgeries which were, as per the government, free of cost. What is happening at GTB Hospital is true of all Delhi government hospitals,” he alleged.

Alleging that the Delhi government was ‘misleading’ citizens in relation to parking facilities at Idgah, Mr. Gupta said the issue was being ‘politicised’.

“The whole issue is being politicised. The Delhi government made no efforts to build parking facilities during four years of its rule...it is also trying to fool the public with regard to sealing. It failed to notify 351 mix land use roads. It has taken no step to come out with a legal remedy while the BJP government promptly came out with amendments in the Master Plan-2021,” he added.
