AHMEDABAD: Gujarat high court has issued notice to the state government and director general of police (DGP) over a petition filed by a woman seeking court direction to police to register her complaint against a woman police constable for duping her.
Petitioner Nirmalakumari Rao’s complaint was against a constable working in Dehgam police station, Anandiben Barot. Rao alleged that she had given Rs 3 lakh to Barot, who promised her success in Lok Rakshak Dal junior clerk exam. But she failed in the test and hence demanded the money back.
Rao had applied for the job last year. She was in contact with Barot, who told her that her success in the exam was guaranteed because she had got good connections with the high-ranking police officers and she could influence them to ensure Rao’s success in exam. Barot allegedly demanded Rs 3 lakh for the task, and the amount was paid.
According to Rao’s advocate Rohit Patel, she took the test last year and failed. She approached the constable and asked her to return her money. After pursuing her for few months, she approached Dehgam police to register an FIR against the constable for cheating. Police did not heed her complaint. She later approached various authorities in police department and the government, but her complaint was not registered.
Rao finally moved the HC for registration of the FIR. Justice Sonia Gokani has issued notice and sought reply from the government for non-registration of FIR on Rao’s complaint. Further hearing is posted on December 29.
