MUMBAI: A sessions court on Wednesday framed charges against the 20-year-old son of a cop for murdering his mother. The court framed the murder charge against Siddhant Ganore who is in jail since his arrest from Jodhpur on May 25, 2017. Ganore was brought in court for proceedings and he pleaded not guilty. The trial will now begin in the case.
Ganore’s mother, Deepali, wife of a police inspector, was found brutally murdered at their Santacruz (east) flat on May 23. Ganore allegedly stabbed her 12 times at their home on the neck, chest and hand and then wrote in blood next to her body: “Tired of her, catch me and hang me”, followed by a smiley emoticon. He allegedly murdered her out of frustration arising out of academic and other emotional pressures on him.
Three months later, the police submitted a 172-page chargesheet in the Bandra magistrate’s court. The cops said they had evidence like Siddhant’s bloodstained clothes, CCTV footage of his building, and a media interview he gave cops in Jodhpur after he was caught.
Earlier this year, the court rejected his bail plea sought on the grounds that he was mentally disturbed. The court said that in view of the mental health report submitted by a three-doctor panel of JJ Hospital, Ganore was not found to suffer from any unsoundness of mind.
