Future generation will suffer if projects are opposed: Khaunte

MAPUSA: Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte said that the government is planning to create new infrastructure in the field of information technology and policies and schemes are being implemented and if investments are coming then “we have to welcome it with open hands.”

“We cannot have government jobs for everyone; we have to create opportunities in private sector and also ensure a platform for today’s youth for respectable jobs and salaries so that they do not go out of Goa in search of jobs,” he said.

He was speaking at a function at the government complex in Mapusa on the occasion of 57th Goa Liberation Day. At the function, the flag hoisting was done at the hands of Khaunte, who first received the guard of honour and inspected the parade which comprised of Mapusa police personnel, NCC cadets of army and naval wings of schools and colleges of Mapusa, scout and guides and school students.

Additional collector Dashrath Redkar, Bardez deputy collector I Gaurish Shankwalkar, deputy collector II Clen Madeira, mamlatdar Laxman Kuttikar, joint mamlatdar, block development officer, chairperson Ryan Braganza, former speaker Surrendra Sirsat were present among others.  DySP Serafin Dias, Mapusa PI Tushar Lotlikar, and Traffic PI Tushar Vernekar were also present. Addressing the gathering, Khaunte said that “on this day we remember sacrifices made by freedom fighters who gave up their lives for the liberation of the state.”

He said that “today technology is improving. If we want IT then people should understand that IT is a non–polluting industry and when Goa has highest per capita income, highest literacy rate, it is important to know the facts to arrive at any conclusion.”

“If we start opposing projects without having any understanding then our future generation will be at a loss,” he added.

The revenue minister also informed that “in the next three months common service centres will be open in all talukas. Revenue bhawan work will be taken up in Morod, Dharbandora and Porvorim.”
