Pilot injured in helicopter crash in Whitsundays

A helicopter has crashed in the Whitsundays and the injured pilot taken to hospital on Wednesday.

Emergency services raced to Gumlu, 135 kilometres south of Townsville, just after 6am.

The helicopter hit the ground near Perks Road and the pilot, a man in his 40s, suffered a cut leg.

He was taken to Ayr Hospital in a stable condition.

The aircraft was used for spraying herbicide, according to the fire service.
