NRI land cheating case: Cops get two days custody of Patel
TNN | Dec 20, 2018, 04:03 ISTVadodara: The detection of crime branch (DCB) received two-day custody of Dilip Patel who was arrested last week for selling off property of an NRI woman outside her knowledge.
DCB sleuths had filed a revision application in sessions court here after the chief judicial magistrate turned down their earlier request of seeking Patel’s nine-day custody.
After their request was rejected, police filed a revision application on December 15. The sessions court heard the cops and ordered Patel to be sent to police custody for two days on Wednesday.
Cops said that Patel’s interrogation is necessary as the exact details of the case are to be known. Patel is just one accused in the case, there is suspicion of involvement of big fishes in cheating the 67-year-old victim Lopa Dave, the police said. Name of one of the prominent realtors, Veer Patel too has been mentioned by Dave in her FIR. Dave told the cops that she owns the property jointly with her aunt Prabha.
Patel had used an old power of attorney fraudulently to sell off Dave’s land which was a part of a larger conspiracy to usurp the property for throwaway price.
