The new 2019 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works has been updated to comply with Europe’s latest Euro 6d-TEMP emissions standard.
Mini claims that despite the new particulate filter, performance of the range-topping Mini hatch and Convertible remains unaffected; the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine still produces 228hp (231PS), with CO2 emissions rated at 158 – 157 g/km with the six-speed manual and at 142 – 140 g/km with the eight-speed automatic transmission.
Last year Mini updated the range of the three- and five-door models with a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, with the JCW models being the only ones retaining the eight-speed automatic unit.
When fitted with the six-speed manual, the 2019 Mini Cooper S JCW is capable of a 0-62mph (100km/h) in 6.3 seconds, while the Convertible version requires an additional 0.3 seconds.
Standard equipment includes 17-inch JCW alloy wheels, sports suspension and braking system, a model-specific body kit, leather upholstery and bucket seats. LED lights front and rear are also standard fit, as well as rain sensors, ambient interior lighting and more.
The new particulate filter is integrated into the sports exhaust system, which still produces a more evocative sound and meets the strict emissions standard.
Customers will be able to order the new 2019 Mini Cooper S JCW and its Convertible version on January 18, with production to begin in March 2019.
