Vadodara: An enforcement officer of provident fund, who was wanted in a graft case, turned herself in after two months.
Accused Paru Tiwari was arrested by the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) after she surrendered on Monday.

Tiwari was on the run for over two months in connection with a case where she was accused of accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh through a middleman from an owner of a city-based IT company.

Tiwari presented herself before ACB after the Supreme Court had rejected her anticipatory bail.

On Tuesday, ACB officials produced Tiwari before the special ACB court seeking her custody. ACB officials said that the court remanded her to custody till December 21.

An official said that Tiwari is being interrogated whether she had demanded bribe from others in the past.

“We are also interrogating her if any other official of the department or her senior is also involved in the taking bribe. During the custody period her voice analysis test will also be conducted,” said the official.

Tiwari was booked for demanding a bribe of Rs1.2 lakh from an IT company owner. A middleman asked by Tiwari to collect the bribe amount from the victim was nabbed red-handed on October 15 by ACB sleuths. Tiwari had been absconding since then.

She had sought anticipatory bail from Vadodara district and sessions court and Gujarat high court where her pleas were turned down.

On December 12, the apex court also rejected her application and ordered her to remain present before the investigating officer.
