I'll admit I was originally only mildly interested in Hulu's upcoming adaptation of Catch-22. George Clooney and House alum Hugh Laurie teaming up to bring Joseph Heller's classic 1961 novel to life on the small screen sounded interesting but was also predictable. However, Hulu dropped the first images from the upcoming project Wednesday, and well, I highly recommend hydrating before taking a gander.

While this adaptation will no doubt be a prestige darling backed by some of the finest actors in the game, the series is also serving up a full-on feast for the eyes. What other nourishment is needed when you have these first-look photos featuring spry young soldiers in teeny shorts standing around probably wondering why I keep hovering over this photo; a dreamy Chris Abbott that has me rethinking my Hollywood Chris ranking; a dashing Kyle Chandler looking more youthful than he ever did on Friday Night Lights; and Clooney rocking a sweet 'stache. (Fair warning: Clooney's new whiskers are a major adjustment, but I'm into it.)

Catch-22 tells the story of Captain John Yossarian, a bombardier who tries to prove himself mentally unfit to fly the dangerous missions his incompetent commanding officer continually sends him on, but there's a catch. While a bureaucratic rule states that one who voluntarily flies on these perilous missions should be deemed insane, an expressed concern about the dangers of the missions is a sign of one's sanity, thus making them fit for flight and stuck in an impossible situation.

The six-part series comes from Paramount TV and Anonymous Content, the same company behind True Detective, Mr. Robot and 13 Reasons Why. Lion's Luke Davies and David Michod, who also wrote episodes of Animal Kingdom and the dramedy War Machine, will write the script.

Catch-22 is set to premiere sometime in 2019 on Hulu.
