GURUGRAM: An interstate gang of burglars and snatchers, called the ‘golden gang’ by cops, was busted on December 13, when cops arrested four of its members. Jewellery worth over Rs 3 lakh and some cash was recovered from their possession. In the preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed to four incidents of burglary in sectors 9 and 10. Cops said members of the gang come from a community, in which three generations have been involved in theft, snatching and burglaries.
The gang was busted by the crime unit of Palam Vihar police station last Thursday, and taken into five days remand on Friday, after being produced in court on Friday.
They were produced at a city court again on Tuesday, which sent them to judicial custody. Police are conducting raids to nab other members of the gang. The gang is active in many northern states of the country, where they steal valuables from buses and trains in the night and rob houses in daytime. Last Thursday, the Palam Vihar crime unit received a tip-off about members of the Golden Gang. Later that night, they arrested them from Basai Chowk. The four arrested members were identified as Naresh, resident of Khanda Kheri village in Hisar district, Vedpal and Jagdish, residents of Petwad village, also in Hisar district, and Ramesh, resident of Lochab village in Jind district.
