LUCKNOW: Deeply saddened by the death of his newborn child in Amethi’s Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Munshiganj, a resident of Rahul Gandhi’s parliamentary constituency wrote a letter in blood to the Congress president narrating his ordeal.
The aggrieved man, Arpit Shankar Shukla, urged the Congress chief to stand by him and get the “accused” doctors punished.
Shukla claimed his pregnant wife Poonam was admitted to the hospital on Friday.
“Doctors said they were trying for a normal delivery but later, a caesarean section was done. The baby was fine but around 1am on Tuesday, the baby was declared dead. Nothing was explained about it by the doctors. How did my healthy baby die?” he said.
“Sanjay Gandhi Hospital has become a centre of extracting money from patients. I am a victim myself. They charged Rs 55,000 from me and my baby died,” alleged Shukla.
On why he wrote to Rahul with his blood, Shukla said: “I am so pained by the death of my baby that I feel I am shedding blood instead of tears. I want to share my agony with Rahul Bhaiya so that he looks into the matter and punishes the wrong-doers.” General manager of Sanjay Gandhi Hospital Avadhesh Sharma countered the allegation.
“The amount that he is claiming is false. Perhaps the baby aspirated the milk when the mother was feeding him. Besides, his hospital bill was of Rs 28,000 approximately,” Sharma told reporters.
