Parliament disrupted for 7th day in a row over Rafale deal
TNN | Dec 20, 2018, 05:00 ISTNEW DELHI: The ongoing dogfight between Congress and BJP over the Rafale deal, coupled with the protests by Tamil parties over the Cauvery river dispute, led to Parliament proceedings being disrupted for the seventh consecutive day on Wednesday.
Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day soon after proceedings began at 11 am after some Congress MPs holding placards and seeking a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Rafale deal trooped into the well, where they were joined by AIADMK and DMK members on the Cauvery issue.
Lok Sabha saw repeated adjournments but managed to pass the Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill amid the din. It was adjourned on three occasions amid uproar after the government rejected the opposition demand for a JPC probe into the Rafale deal.
In the upper House, Naidu said "I don't want this (ruckus) to be seen by the people" and adjourned the proceedings for the day. tnn
