Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, Former chief minister Babulal Gaur’s daughter-in-law Krishna Gaur expressed gratitude towards voters on Sunday.She visited the houses to express her gratitude. Krishna became the first woman MLA from Bhopal.
Earlier Babulal Gaur had to lobby for ticket as the party was not keen to field him on account of his age. But finally the party gave ticket to Krishna and she defeated Congress rival Girish Sharma by a margin of 30,000 votes.
The works done by Krishna in Govindpura constituency during his tenure as Bhopal mayor are considered to be the main reason behind her win. After her tenure as mayor ended in 2014, Krishna started making door-to-door contact in the constituency. She became strong claimant for party ticket from this seat. Last time her father-in-law Babulal Gaur had won by margin of 70,644 votes.
The win margin for Krishna fell by about 40,000 votes. Strong Congress candidate Girish Sharma was the main reason for reduction in win margin. The female and elderly voters extended their support to Krishna.
