Web and app-based platform rolled out in city

A digital platform that brings onboard various stakeholders from waste generators, both in residential and commercial segments, collectors as well as recyclers to improve waste and recycle management has been launched by Rapidue Technology.

The web and app-based platform, coming in backdrop of rapid urbanisation, has been rolled out in Hyderabad and Pune.

Director Abhay Deshpande said Rapidue Technology has created Recykal app for the industry and government and an add-on app Uzed to cater to individual and residential users. By deploying the technology platform, the company facilitated sourcing of recyclable materials such as plastics, paper and glass, through waste collectors, who in turn would hand it over to recyclers.

The generators would be paid by pay of points that could be redeemed for purchases made on the app, while the company would get revenue by selling the waste to recyclers. The technology platform also provided information on how and where the materials are being reused, recycled, composted or disposed of, enabling transparency and accountability.

A release from the company said generators, using the mobile app or the website, could access the suite of offerings, including a real-time collection calendar linked to a unique ID, registration for waste collection reminders delivered by multiple channels, collection schedule integration with online calendars and printable collection schedules.

Mr. Deshpande said the company plans to spread its wings to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai by March. He said $1 million had been invested and the company may consider raising $10 million in the second half of next financial year.

Co-founder and CEO Abhishek Deshpande said hassle-free collection, transparent model and accountable processing are the highlights of Recykal and Uzed.
