The Early Childhood Center at the JCC of Northern New Jersey Announces Pre-School Registration
Re-Opens its Doors in a Newly Renovated Cutting-Edge Building
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J., Dec. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Early Childhood Center at the JCC of Northern New Jersey re-opens in a newly renovated, state-of-the art facility. Registration for the 2019-2020 school year begins on January 7, 2019. The school was developed to provide a high-quality education for pre-school aged children in a developmentally appropriate and nurturing environment.
"We look forward to welcoming new and former families to our progressive pre-school. We are committed to fostering a warm and nurturing environment where children can express themselves, learn and grow as individuals," said Debra Frankel, Director of The Early Childhood Center at the JCC of NNJ.
The pre-school is located at the Bethany Community Center, 605 Pascack Road in Washington Township. The Early Childhood Center infuses Jewish values and traditions into the classroom through hands-on experiences and warmly welcomes children of all faiths and backgrounds. The program is devoted to cultivating relationships and a lifelong love of learning. Through inquiry and meaningful experiences, children's voices, passions, artistic visions and questions are driving forces in the curriculum. Parental involvement is invited and encouraged.
The Early Childhood Center at the JCC of NNJ's philosophy is to support and educate the whole child; physically, socially, emotionally and academically while fostering a sense of community for the entire family. The loving and supportive environment helps lay the foundation for future academic success as families experience Jewish values and traditions in a pre-school environment. The educational needs of the students are met through a curriculum based on the Reggio Emilia inspired approach to educational philosophy. For the Early Childhood Center, this means:
- Children are active participants in their learning;
- Children are provided with ample opportunity to touch, move, listen, see and hear as they explore classroom materials. Children are viewed as competent thinkers, problem solvers, and builders of their own knowledge.
- Teachers and children collaborate to identify paths of wonder and learning; and
- Children are members of ever-widening communities, including their own classroom, the school, the JCC, and the world.
Both indoor and outdoor play is also an integral part of the curriculum for the Early Childhood Program. The JCC of NNJ offers a well-equipped outdoor play space with a new mud kitchen, sand box as well as a soft blacktop area for outdoor games and exercise. On rainy days the school utilizes its newly refurbished indoor gym area to promote physical exercise and cooperative play.
Offerings include 2-year old classes either three or five days a week and 3 & 4-year old classes offered five days a week with the option of before and after care. Spaces are limited in these programs. Classes begin on September 4, 2019.
