Two killed in road mishap on Srisailam-Hyderabad highway

HYDERABAD: Two businessmen were killed while two others sustained injuries when the car they were travelling in rammed into a tree on Srisailam-Hyderabad National Highway-765 on Tuesday.
The mishap occurred at Cherukuri Gate area near Veldena village.
According to the reports the car was speeding and the driver and the person sitting next to him were not wearing seat belts.
The deceased have been identified as K Ravindar Reddy (53), a businessman from Kalwakurthy and his friend Ch Sudhakar Reddy (51), also a businessman from Jillelaguda in Saroornagar. Reddy was former Sarpanch of Jillelaguda.
They were travelling from Kalwakurthy to Hyderabad.
“Ravindar Reddy, who was driving the car, lost control over the vehicle, possibly due to speeding and the car crashed into a tree at 3.30pm. He and Sudhakar Reddy, who was sitting in the front seat, were not wearing the seat belts. As a result, airbags did not open. The duo suffered severe internal injuries on their chests. They were declared brought dead at a nearby hospital,” Veldenda SI P Veerababu said.
Police said that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol and a case was registered under sections 304-a and 337 of the IPC.
